Men’s Soccer

The EMU men’s soccer team has continued on their path to victory as they improved to 5-1 after a pair of wins over Ferrum and Albright. Dave Drafton scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 overtime victory over Ferrum and the trio of senior Juan Luna, junior Erik Peachey and junior David Shafer each scored a goal in the 3-2 victory over Albright. Drafton was also named ODAC player of the week after scoring two game-winning goals. The team’s next game will be Saturday, Sept. 23 at Randolph College (4-2) for the team’s first conference matchup.

Women’s Soccer

The women’s soccer team holds a 2-3-2 record after falling just short to Hood College 2-1 in double overtime and beating up on Notre Dame of Maryland 4-0. In the loss to Hood, sophomore Ariel Barbosa scored the only goal of the game while four different players chipped in with goals against Notre Dame. They also lost 0-3 to the nearby Bridgewater college last night. The team will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 23 at Roanoke (3-2-1).

Field Hockey

The field hockey team possesses a 3-3 record, with their most recent game being a 10-1 loss to nationally ranked Mary Washington. senior Mikayla Martin was the only one to score in that game as the #17 ranked Eagles kept the game out of reach. The team will play again Sunday, Sept. 24 at Randolph Macon (2-2) for the first ODAC game of the season.

Women’s Volleyball

The women’s volleyball team’s season isn’t going quite as planned. They are currently sitting with a 3-9 record and 1-2 in the ODAC. Junior Maria Yoder leads the team in kills with 64 and senior Jasmine Johnson leads the team in assists with 161. The team’s next game will be tonight at home versus Randolph Macon (9-3, 3-0 ODAC).

Cross Country

Senior Michaela Mast earned ODAC runner of the week after her first place finish among the non-division one runners at the JMU Invitational. The team’s next event is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 29 in Bethlehem, Pa.
