The barbershop and BSA house is in session! As many of you already know, the BSA barbershop was loaded over to the health department last year to be used as a Covid-testing area. Deciding to give this space up took hours of thought and conversation until the club agreed upon allowing it to be used to help out with keeping track of Covid cases on campus. Now, after a year of not having a space, the BSA barbershop has reopened as a space that represents people of color coming together to enjoy each others’ company and appreciating the beauty of all hair textures and black culture.

BSA has also opened up an official BSA house. This house is a living space where many members of the board or general body live with one another, but this house is open for non-members of BSA to stop by and socialize as well. JD Richardson, a board member of BSA, stated that the club intends to use this house to hold BSA meetings and other social events throughout the school year. This creates a great opportunity for EMU students who are interested in joining BSA to learn more about what Black Student Alliance is about, or even become a full time member. All members of BSA have an opportunity to live in the BSA house for the school year as more members graduate or move, which means more space for new or current members of BSA in the BSA house. If interested, BSA encourages students to contact any board member of the BSA to become a member and get a glimpse of what Black Student Alliance is all about.
