SGA has been busy this year! Four clubs were formed and approved: Art Club, Destiny’s Daughters, Young Democrats, and Young Conservative Voices.

We assisted with EMU’s civic engagement efforts by co-sponsoring a town hall with Harrisonburg City Council candidates and offering rides to the polls on election day.

This year we also launched our Forum Series with the goal of promoting transparency and effective communication across campus. Some forum topics included EMU’s restructuring, the Racial Equity Leadership Institute, EMU’s first “day on” of service and learning for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and EMU’s brand going forward.

The future of this series is unknown, but we hope that important issues are still discussed in some fashion.

We were excited by the amount of student energy and engagement this year! We hope this carries over into next fall.

One of SGA’s main goals is to provide support to all the clubs on campus; seeing the number of events put on by EMU clubs this year has been encouraging.

We hope that students continue to be involved on campus and that they feel support from faculty, staff, and administration. It has been a difficult past few years for EMU, but we are encouraged by the persistence and strength of this community.

With each future issue of the Year In Review, we hope that students at EMU continue to be recognized and celebrated!

We’ve enjoyed being a part of this ride!
