The old psychology wing of the Suter Science Center (SSC) has completed preparations for renovation into a new space for the Engineering Department. Preparations began earlier this year and construction is expected to get underway in middle to late October with a target completion date of June 30, 2018.

The Engineering Department’s classes are currently being held in SSC, where they share laboratory space with other science departments. However, after construction is complete, the Engineering Department will have their own space, including three new laboratory areas. “There will be tons of hands-on learning opportunities in these labs,” said Assistant Professor of Engineering Esther Tian. “I [am looking] forward to students’ collaborations in this new space. The new equipment going into the space will enhance students’ learning, strengthen our curriculum, and help achieve student learning outcomes.” These student learning outcomes include the ability to design and conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data, and use techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
