Social distancing, quarantine, pandemic, etc… All of these words put a heavy weight on our shoulders and make us feel as if death is waiting at the door to write an end to our stories.

When a volcano erupts many problems will occur, such as falling buildings, or people having breathing issues. If the volcano is big enough, its ash will block the sunlight, which will result in many other issues, but, after a certain time, the land around the volcano will be the best to plant.

The time we live in now is similar to volcanoes erupting. There are many things going on in our lives: Feeling lost, fear of the unknown, and perhaps much more hidden. I don’t know when all of that is going to be over, but I am sure the results will be similar to the beautiful lands that a volcanic eruption makes.

We all depend on certain things or people to fill our time, and don’t really try to step out of our comfort zones and actually spend time with ourselves. Maybe we’ll find ourselves as a friendly person to be with, or someone we are always trying to hide. Or you can try counseling to help you through—counseling sessions offer a space for you to talk about things that bother you and make waking up every day seem like a burden instead of a chance.

Having this time away from almost all the outside things that keep us busy can be a great chance to know who we are, and what our lives are all about. Find what does not feel confusing in the middle of this chaos, and look at it every day. Go out and look at the night sky, and see how its beautiful darkness holds you. It’s funny to feel safe just by looking at the sky that has billions of galaxies in it, but on our tiny planet we feel misled, and alone. This week, and every week try to be a sky for yourself, huge in your soul, and surround it with beautiful darkness. And remember to breathe.
