Every month, Common Grounds takes on the wonderful task of coming up with a new special drink of the month to surprise the EMU community. This month, we were surprised by a new and creative drink called “Hippie Baby”. 

Hippie Baby consists of a mixture of peach smoothie and matcha, and their combination creates a refreshing and sweet drink. 

Although I always get curious about the drinks of the month, I never take the time to taste them or enjoy them because I always order the same thing. However, this time I decided to try it because I love the matcha flavor. 

After I ordered the drink, I immediately started to observe the taste, presentation, and all the factors that make a drink enjoyable. Just based on the presentation of the drink, it looks very tasty. The matcha gives it a perfect and soft shade of green that reminds us that spring has finally come. I asked for mine with whipped cream on top which made it look even more appealing and refreshing. The presentation of the drink raised my expectations because it looked really delicious. 

When it comes to the taste, the peach smoothie finally made an appearance adding a sweet taste to the drink. There is a perfect balance between the peach flavor and the matcha flavor within the drink, although at times it feels like the sweetness of the peach flavor overpowers the unique taste of the matcha. Hippie Baby starts out tasting sweet and smooth due to its peachy flavor, but the matcha flavor is able to stay relevant leaving a sweet and a tad bitter aftertaste. 

If you are a person who enjoys sweet drinks, I recommend getting this drink with whipped cream because it adds to the sweet flavor of the peach especially if you mix it with the drink. However, if you are like me, and prefer the less sweet things, this drink is also a good option, but I would recommend it without the whipped cream. 

I definitely enjoyed getting out of the routine and my usual drink to taste this drink of the month. It is ideal for the changes in season, perfect to enjoy outside under the warm weather. 

I rate this drink a 9 out of 10 because it had an exceptional presentation, perfect color, and temperature. The flavors balanced each other out, however sometimes the peach flavor was too strong that almost overpowered the matcha flavor. Nevertheless, Hippie Baby is worth trying and getting out of the routine to taste something new.
