As a college student, I’ve had a couple of late-night homework sessions. What got me through those late nights? Red Bull, yanno the drink that supposedly gives you wings. It even says on their can that it’s a drink that college students appreciate. Red Bull is my go-to energy drink, even though my body feels like it’s buzzing after one 12 fl oz can. Since I’m currently student teaching and I feel like I’m currently living my life at 200 cc running a Rainbow Road track from Mario Kart, I decided to branch out and try the colors edition of Red Bull. By the end of this review, I might either be buzzing like crazy or completely oblivious to the amount of caffeine in my body…

Red Bull: Red Edition

My tried and true drink… The taste is exquisite and only has hints of battery acid. The watermelon taste is sweet and only has some light tartness to it. This drink reminds me of my summer up in Lancaster with my friends, and all of the adventures we went on. Good times, good times… It almost reminds me of a watermelon Jolly Rancher, which then takes me back to elementary school and when I would get Jolly Ranchers from the treasure chest. It’s so smooth and I’m honestly happy that it loses the intense flavor of the original Red Bull. This flavor also reminds me of the time that I had four of these because I had to finish a 12-page paper. Not only did I finish that paper, but I also made it to my 8 a.m. final AND moved out without a wink of sleep. I can always count on my watermelon Red Bull. This drink is honestly just as fruity as me and that’s probably why I vibe with it so much.

RedBull: Yellow Edition

This yellow edition drink is supposedly tropical flavored… whatever that means. Within my first sip, I could taste the pineapple in the drink. It’s almost as if you’re drinking a can of sunshine. It’s almost as if you aren’t drinking an energy drink because the citrus hides that tang of the original Red Bull. This drink also reminds me of summer, but it reminds me more of when I’m going on a drive with the windows down and blasting my playlist. This drink is energizing and refreshing if you’re looking for something that has less of that “energy drink” taste. To be honest, after drinking this one I was craving some pineapple… Maybe I should get some pineapple to snack on.

RedBull: Blue Edition

I’m not a big blueberry fan so I was quite skeptical about this one, but boy was I proven wrong! I’ve never been one to go for the berry drinks unless it’s strawberry, but this drink has the right amount of blueberry and it doesn’t taste too artificial. It keeps that natural taste of blueberry while also finding a healthy way to mix the tart. It actually kind of reminds me of flavored sparkling water but with a boost of energy. This flavor would definitely be in my second place, but it’s really close to the watermelon flavor… This one makes me feel more fruity too and makes me forget that Red Bull is just terrible for my stomach.

240 mg of caffeine later, and we’ve made it to the end of this review. I can feel myself buzzing and struggling to stay still. These three Red Bulls even helped me keep up with my antelope of a cooperating teacher during family conferences. Overall, the colors edition of Red Bull are great energy drinks if you’re looking for something that has caffeine but doesn’t have the overpowering “energy drink” flavor. If you’re looking for suggestions, I would definitely start with the Red Bull: Blue Edition because it doesn’t have that artificial blueberry flavor. I recommend these products of Red Bull, or energy drinks in general, are your cup of tea. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go bounce off the walls and annoy my housemates with the amount of energy I have.
