This past Sunday was Super Bowl LV. Coming into the game, many people expected a shootout with two of the best teams and quarterbacks that the league has to offer. The Kansas City Chiefs, led by superstar Patrick Mahomes, were coming into the game hoping to repeat and win their second straight Super Bowl.

On the other hand, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, led by Tom Brady, were hoping to give Brady his seventh Super Bowl ring. There was a lot of hype leading up to this game, and it surrounded the two quarterbacks.

With all the hype surrounding the game, it didn’t turn out to be what everyone hoped. To be expected, the high-powered Chiefs’ offense scored first but only a field goal. Then, Tom Brady drove down the field on the next possession to hook up with long-time teammate from the New England Patriots, Rob Gronkowski, for a touchdown. The defense locked in for the two teams over the next two possessions, getting key stops for both teams.

The Buccaneers’ defense stood out that night and held the Chiefs to only nine points the whole night, which all came from field goals. The Buccaneers’ defense put pressure on Mahomes all night long.

They forced two interceptions and had two sacks during the game. The defense put so much pressure on Mahomes that he ran a total of 497 yards before passing or throwing the ball. This was the most pre-throw or pre-sack yards by a quarterback all season.

While the Buccaneers’ defense held it down on the Chiefs’ offense, it gave Tom Brady a chance to do his thing. Brady threw for 201 yards with three touchdowns. He hooked up with Gronkowski for two of the three touchdowns while throwing another to Antonio Brown, showing the old chemistry that they have together.

Leonard Fournette contributed to the win as well, rushing for 89 yards and scoring a touchdown. Mahomes threw for 270 yards, and Travis Kelce had 10 receptions for 133 yards.

The Buccaneers went on to win 31-9, giving Tom Brady his seventh championship and his fifth Super Bowl MVP. The Buccaneers defeated the odds of coming into the season with a new team and won the Super Bowl coming all the way from the wild card round.

Brady and the Buccaneers hope to repeat next season.
