Taylor Swift and her new man, Travis Kelce, have taken the media by storm recently. The pair has not made any official statements regarding their relationship status, but Swifties have been doing a deep dive to find any sort of information they can. After numerous public appearances together, fans of both Swift and the Kansas City Chiefs have many reasons to believe that the two have been seeing each other for some time now. The Chiefs game versus the Chicago Bears at the end of September is where things got a little more official, as Swift not only attended the game, but also watched it from Kelce’s VIP suite. She spent the game chatting with Donna Kelce, also known as “Mama Kelce,” all smiles for the cameras that would not leave her alone.

All the media attention that Swift and Kelce have garnered has drastically influenced NFL viewership as well as sales. Swifties have used this as evidence to support the existence of a “Taylor Swift Effect,” which according to them is a phenomenon that whenever Swift touches something, it instantly sees more success. The NFL has even gone so far as to temporarily change their bio on X to “NFL (Taylor’s Version),” signifying that Swift essentially owns the organization. 

Numbers-wise, the results speak for themselves. After attending that Chiefs vs. Bears game, sales of Kelce’s 87 jersey jumped 400 percent and is now in the top five for jerseys sold this season. Additionally, Kelce gained over 900,000 followers on Instagram after the game, which puts him at almost four million followers. The following Sunday, the Chiefs vs. New York Jets game saw a gigantic spike in television viewership with 27 million viewers, the most for any football game since the Super Bowl this past February. It is very likely that this record will continue to be broken as the Chiefs progress through the season and make their bid at Super Bowl LVIII.

There is a wild conspiracy that has been floating around since rumors surfaced of Swift and Kelce hanging out together. Back in July, Swift stopped in Kansas City for a weekend on her “Eras Tour,” and Kelce hoped to shoot his shot with her by making her a bracelet with his phone number on it. Unfortunately for him, he was not able to give it to her at the concert he attended. However, in mid-September “The Messenger” posted an article stating that Swift and Kelce have been quietly hanging out for the past few months. This got Swifties thinking, and soon two and two were put together to come to this conclusion. Swift is known to be an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, so it is possible that she is trying to distract Kelce from his football career in order to give the Eagles a better chance at winning the Super Bowl this year. 

In my opinion, this theory is pretty outlandish, but not entirely out of the realm of possibility. I think that Swift and Kelce do have a genuine blooming relationship, but I also think that Swift might see thwarting the Chiefs’ Super Bowl run as a bonus to her current situation. Whether or not this conspiracy is true, I think that Kelce has his priorities in order when it comes to football and relationships. There are many people who are both rooting for and hating on the pair, but who knows how this alleged relationship will end up. Could we see a new album releasing in the near future, or is Travis here to stay? In my opinion, it is far too early to come to any conclusions.
