Men’s Basketball

The men’s basketball team was able to seal a victory on Alumni Day, defeating Hampden-Sydney College 72-60. Senior Maleke Jones and junior Travis Clower both led the team with 17 points each and senior Isaiah Harris-Winn led the way on defense with 10 rebounds. With the win, the Royals improve to 9-11 on the season and 4-8 in the ODAC. The team’s next matchup will be Saturday, Feb. 10 at Randolph College (5-16, 2-10 ODAC).

Women’s Basketball

The women’s basketball team was able to win on the road as they defeated Roanoke College 72-66. Sophomore Lindsey Krisak led the team with 13 points while senior Myneshia Walker added 12 points and five rebounds. With the win, the Royals improve to 12-8 on the season and 7-5 in the ODAC. The team’s next game will be Saturday, Feb. 10 at Virginia Wesleyan (9-12, 6-6 ODAC).

Track & Field

EMU sent a group of athletes of the Camel City Invitational over the weekend, hosted by JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, NC. Despite facing a huge field of competitors from levels ranging from NAIA to NCAA D-I, the Track & Field Royals showed solid midseason form. First-year Justice Allen had one of the best performances of the day, cutting more than 23 seconds off his time in the 3000m. Allen earned a time of 9:23.95, and is knocking on the door of the EMU top 10 list in the event. Senior Connor Faint led a foursome of Royals in the shorter distances. In the 200m, he was clocked at 23.47 seconds. On the women’s side, senior Brittany Williams ran in a pair of events. She crossed in 1:05.10 in the 400m and 2:39.46 in the 800m. Both were season bests. The team’s next event will be Saturday, Feb. 17 at the UCS Invitational in Winston- Salem, NC.
