Field Hockey

The Royals fell to Centre College on Saturday, Oct. 6. A wide shot from sophomore Lauren Hartzler and 13 saves by senior Kelsey Troyer were not enough to pull off a win.

Field Hockey had another loss on Tuesday falling 2-1 to Bridgewater taking their overall record to 6-6 and 0-3 in ODAC. Their next game is Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. against St. Mary’s.

Women’s Soccer

Women’s soccer found a 6-0 win over Hollins on Oct. 6.

First-year Hannah York scored first off a cross from sophomore Rachel Sauder with additional goals from junior Ariel Barbosa, Sauder again with a setup from sophomore Haley Barnes, a penalty shot from junior Shaylla Oswald, and pass from Barbosa resulting in a goal shot by junior Leigh Lumsden.

The Royals are now 4-5- 0 overall and 2-3-0 in conference. Their next home game is this Saturday at 4 p.m. against Roanoke College.

Women’s Volleyball

Women’s volleyball came away with a 3-0 win with set scores of 25-15, 25-11, 25-15 on Saturday against Lehman with aces from sophomore Amy Goodman and senior Maria Yoder and nine kills each from Goodman and senior Erin Brubaker.

They found another win losing the first set 22-25 and winning the next three 25- 21, 25-22, and 25-21 for a final of 3-1 over Goucher at the Goucher Tri-Match in Baltimore, Md. The Royals could not pull off another win on Tuesday as they fell 3-0 to Lancaster Bible with set scores of 25-15, 25- 19, and 25-15 taking their overall record to 5-15 and 0-5 in ODAC. Their next game is Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. against Ferrum.

Men’s Soccer

A hat trick by junior Jesus Trejo along with goals from senior Dave Drafton and Erik Peachey, and a pass from sophomore Denny Jimenez found by sophomore Leiyan Kariuki allowed the Royals to pull ahead of Gallaudet University on Oct. 3.

Men’s soccer found an- other win against Emory & Henry on Oct. 6 with the help of sophomore Josh Chiquillo who scored his first career hat trick. The Royals defense allowed only 12 shots. Senior Emmanuel Kampanga had four saves as the team pulled ahead for a 3-0 victory. Their next game will be Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. against Lynchburg.

Golf

The women’s golf team finished their season strong at the Shenandoah Invitational in Front Royal, Va. Junior Olyvia Longacre finished 13th, shooting 81 on Saturday and an 84 on Sunday for a total of 165 (+23). First-year Kierra Zuercher shot a 103 on Saturday. She did not complete a card on Sunday.

Men’s golf came in 8th at Ted Keller Memorial in Ashland, Va on Oct. 8 and 9. Senior Lucas Miller got first with 79 in round one and a 74 in round 2 for a total of 153 for the two-day tournament. The score for round one was 328 and 330 for round two, adding to a total of 658.
