Men’s Soccer
The men’s soccer team came up short on Saturday, Sept. 15, when they took a 2-0 loss on the road against #1 ranked Messiah. After keeping it scoreless in the first half, the Royals conceded in the 53rd and 81st minute. Despite losing, the game was well-contested, as senior goalkeeper Emmanuel Kampanga recorded five crucial saves. The Royals also won their first conference game against Ferrum with a decisive 2-0 victory on Sept. 19. The men have a current record of 3-3-1 and will play at home against Lebanon Valley on Saturday, Sept. 22.
Field Hockey
The field hockey team continued their win-streak as they took down Frostburg State 3-2 last Wednesday Sept. 13. They also came away with a commanding 3-0 victory against Hood, as first-year Skylar Hedgepeth scored twice and assisted once. The Royals have now won four in a row, with an overall 5-1 record, the program’s best start since 2008. Up next is a home game against Wesley on Friday, Sept. 21
Women’s Volleyball
The Royals played three games on the road at the Blue Jay Classic in Elizabethtown, PA. They ended up with a 1-2 record at the end of the weekend, beating Cairn three sets to zero with junior Meredith Stinnette leading the way with 8 kills. Their two losses were to Elizabethtown and Rowan. The women’s volleyball team took another loss to conference opponent Randolph-Macon, losing 3-0, making the team’s record 3-8. Their next match is at home on Sept. 26 against Emory & Henry.
Women’s Soccer
The women’s team played in a scrimmage at home on Sept. 13 against Mary Baldwin. The game ended in a 11-0 victory for the Royals, scoring five in the first half and six in the second. Forwards sophomore Leigh Lumsden and junior Laura Rittenhouse came up big with a hattrick each, along with junior Emily Hostetler finding the net twice. Their first official home game was on Tuesday, Sept 18, where they beat Catholic in a stunning 2-1 overtime victory. The women’s team will play away against Guliford College on Saturday, Sept. 22.
